ALPINE CLIMBING

The best known, and by far the longest, climb here is the iconic 18 km Ersfjordtraverse. It takes anything from  1-3 days to complete depending on ambition and level. It can also be split it into 3 separate day climbs. Tromsø's most difficult, and therefore popular, peak to reach is Blåskredtinden 785m. It is a very scenic day climb with a difficulty of grade 4 just below the summit. We also have world class traditional climbing on Hollenderan for the experienced climber. Most routes here are around 250 meters long and at a difficulty of grade 5/6.

About us

Tromso Mountain Guides

Who we are, what we like and what we have done.

Magnus

I'm the founder of TMG and have spent the nearly 30 years on steep walls, rocky ridges and snowy mountains around the world.  I came to Tromsø in 2010 to have a look and have remained here. Now I'm a proud father of a two and living happily with my wife Cecilie on Tromsø island. I started teaching rock climbing 20 years ago and has worked as a full time mountain guide in Norway and the Alps since 2013. I'm still as motivated as ever to go out climbing and skiing for my own pleasure or share my passion with my clients. Successful expeditions to Himalaya, Karakoram, Greenland and Patagonia. Sport climbing up to 8a+ and traditional climbing up to 7c+. Ersfjordtraversen in 6 hours including the main summits.

Thomas

Thomas is one of the most accomplished climbers in Norway and under training with Nortind to become a fully certified IFMGA guide. He first came to Tromsø in 2005 and his strong passion for the mountains has only grown since. He now lives here with his two kids and wife. With a back ground in law from the university and many years as a rope access instructor with AAK, he's  well prepared for the responsibilities of a mountain guide. Thomas has climbed extensively around the world with successful expeditions to Patagonia, Peru and Caucasus. Sport climbing up to 8b, traditional climbing up to 8a+. Free ascent of El Cap.
